There are 6 main vocabulary words that we will stress throughout the workshop.

The next vocabulary word is

search engine   WB01626_.gif (272 bytes)

A search engine is a Web page that you can use on the Internet to find any type of information that you desire.

The most famous search engine is Yahoo.

Other search engines are Excite, Infoseek, and Lycos.

Search engines are similar to phone books. Just as you could find the phone number for the Wyomissing Area High School with either the local Bell Yellow Pages phone book or the Donnelly Directory, you could also find the New York Yankee's Web page with either Yahoo or Excite.

Using search engines are free, you simply have to click on the word "Search" at the top of your browser to find one.

Notice that the blue, underlined words above are hyperlinks.   You could visit those search engines simply by clicking on the hyperlinks.
