iOS - Software
Objective #1: Understand how to install the necessary software for creating iOS apps.
- A Mac computer is required to use the necessary software for creating iOS apps. If you don't have a Mac computer at home, you can rent out a mac in cloud (http://www.macincloud.com) starting with a free trial.
For development, you need a paid account.
$1 per hour
$12+ weekly (3 hours each day)
$20+ per month (3 hours each day)
Note: You will only be able to debug in the simulator. But you can email the sign .ipa to install on your device via iTunes on Windows.
- When enrolling in the Apple Developer Program, there are several options:
- Individual Developer — You may enroll in the standard iOS Developer Program as an individual if you are a sole proprietor or if you develop under your own name.
- Develop for Your Own Company — If you have your own company listed on Dun & Bradstreet, you may enroll as a company.
- Develop for Another Company — If you work for some company, non-profit organization, joint venture, partnership, or government organization you are in luck — they may pay Apple's $99 paid developer fee for you.
- Develop In-House Apps — Companies and organizations can develop apps for their own internal deployment (not available on the general App Store).
- iOS Developer University Program — Colleges and universities have their own special developer program so students can learn all about iOS.
- Currently, we are running the Apple 5.1 OS (Snow Leopard 10.6 or Leopard 10.5) at school with XCode 4.4. Some of you are running the more recent Apple 6.0.1 OS (Mountain Lion 10.8) at home with XCode 4.5
