Class Newsletter Assignment

Your final newsletter must contain the following:

color, ruling lines, page border, clip art, pull quote, WordArt, Drop Cap, subhead(s), second page name plate, & one or more column breaks.

It must be at least 2 pages long and each page should have at least 3 columns. It also must contain an article which lists upcoming school-related activities and events. Read Cases & Places #1 on p. 6.63 to get an idea of the assignment. Any specifications listed here supercede those mentioned in the textbook.

Each student in must write two newsletter articles of 100-300 words each that may be used by anyone else in the class. Make sure that your grammar and spelling is perfect. You will be graded on the articles that you write and contribute to the class. The articles must be typed into MS Word and saved in your network directly by Friday, 10/9 .

One of your two articles must be class-related. It must explain something like our course curriculum, the benefits of taking the course, opportunities that have presented themselves in the course, information on MS Office, Word, or any other software tool that we will use in the course. While other class-related topics are acceptable, you must get permission from Mr. Minich before pursuing any other topic.

The other article that each student is to write is to be school-related. It can focus on any school activity, club, sport, etc. Obtaining quotes from students, teachers, administrators would help make your article more interesting.

After you are finishing writing your articles and after you have saved them in your network folder, Mr. Minich will transfer them to the template folder, so that anyone can access them. Save your class-related article as "October Class Article John Doe", where you should insert your name for "John Doe". The school-related article should be saved as "October School Article John Doe".

Be sure not to mention any student names in the newsletter articles. Since some of this information will eventually be posted on the Web, it would not be a good idea for minors to post such information.
